Every person is different. Every family is different. Everyone's needs are different. But we all tend to put off the uncomfortable task of planning and making decisions about the end of life. That's perfectly natural. But it is always a good idea to have some plan of action ahead of time. As early as possible. Helping families and patients at this confusing and uncomfortable time to live the best life possible on their own terms is the goal of A Guiding Light.
Because most of us only have limited experience with preparing for the end of life - or none at all - that makes knowing where to find the information, resources, and people to help at that time a real challenge. A Guiding Light is here for that reason. We're here to provide you with information, resources, and experience to guide you to professionals with the help patients and families need most.
The sooner plans and decisions are made, the sooner a loved one can receive a better quality of care. That doesn't necessarily mean the end is near - it means they and their family are going to be better prepared when the end does come.
